Typescripts from the included cassette sound tapes. These materials are inteviews conducted in 1999 by Albert Winkler of the Brigham Young University Special Collections and an unnamed son of Lassen. Lassen tells about his experiences in World War II in the Pacific Theater including the time he was severely wounded in battle.

Albert Winkler is the American and British History librarian at Brigham Young University and has been a senior librarian since 1979. He received his BA and MA from Utah State University in 1973 and 1976, an MA from the Catholic University of America in 1980, and an MLS and PhD from Brigham Young University in 1981 and 1982, respectively.
